Amazon’s ‘Holistic’ Box Office Signals Marketplace Change
Masters of the Universe opened to roughly a quarter of its budget, and Amazon called it a validation. Both can be true: Amazon built the only studio where a theatrical loss has somewhere else to go. Mattel has no such cushion.
